The anniversary of February 4 was also chosen to remember and celebrate the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/francesco\/en\/travels\/2019\/outside\/documents\/papa-francesco_20190204_documento-fratellanza-umana.html\">Document on \u201cHuman fraternity for world peace and living together<\/a>\u201d signed by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyib on February 4, 2019 in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Already in the Preamble of the 1945<a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/about-us\/un-charter\/full-text\"> Charter of the United Nations<\/a>, the decision to &#8220;<em>save future generations from the scourge of war, which twice in the course of this generation has brought untold sorrow to mankind<\/em>&#8221; was affirmed. In 1999, then, the General Assembly adopted, by <a href=\"https:\/\/undocs.org\/a\/res\/53\/243\">resolution 53\/243<\/a>, the <strong>Declaration and Program of Action on a Culture of Peace<\/strong>, which served as a universal mandate for the international community to promote a culture of peace and non-violence.
