Master in Management of Organizations and Social Doctrine of the Church of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. Inauguration of the V Edition “A new vision of the development: the challenges and the courage. People, entrepreneurs, organizations”

On Friday, May 20th, 2022 at 12:00 am, in collaboration with the Embassy of Italy to the Holy See, will take place the opening day of the V Edition of the Master in Management of Organizations and Social Doctrine of the Church promoted by the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”. The event will be held in the cloister of Palazzo Borromeo, seat of the Embassy. Exponents of the academic, economical and institutional world will discuss on the theme “A new vision of the development: the challenges and the courage. People, entrepreneurs, organizations”.

“The commitment for the development involves everyone of us, as individuals, economic and social organizations and it necessarily requires an integral approach; this means placing the humankind at the center of the development. It is a narrow path, but viable, and the Social Doctrine of the Church is a precious guidance tool” Rector of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” Orazio Schillaci, says.

The event represents an opportunity for dialogue and training from an ethical and cultural point of view, considering the instructions and the principles of the Social Doctrine of the Church as part of the complex challenges that we are facing, which require new and valid forms of commitment to build another vision of the economy and the society.

According to Professor Paola Paniccia Coordinator of the Master, “The new generation of courageous entrepreneurs and managers is able to address any enterprise with those clear mind and fortitude that it takes to look at the consequences of their decisions on others and not only on their own selfish interests. Today’s challenge is to promote it in the world, to make the greater good the strength for a real integral human development”.

The Master – which represents an evolution of the Postgraduate Course in ” Social Doctrine of the Church for economic and social development” activated in the academic year 2013/2014 – is the only one in the panorama of Italian and European lay universities on the themes of the Social Doctrine of the Church applied to Economics and Management awarding 60 university credits. The aim of the Master is to train professionals able to put themselves at the service of civil society by holding positions of responsibility in the government and management of complex organizations, with particular reference to companies and public administration.

“Our Master is based on an interdisciplinary and holistic training, as much concrete as possible, that means to be able to combine specialized and technical knowledge with human and moral values, giving back an ethical sense to the management” Researcher Silvia Baiocco, Program Manager of the Master, highlights.

The Master lasts one year and consists of 6 course units including class interaction, seminars, workshops and testimonials. The 400-hour internship at various profit and non-profit companies, public bodies, associations and other voluntary sector organizations, as a concrete opportunity to approach the labor market, completes the training.

The teaching staff of the Master consists of 80 people including professors and researchers from different disciplines of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”, teachers from other universities, entrepreneurs, managers and high-profile religious experts.
