On Tuesday 11 January 2022 the event “Cinema: visual memory for the future” was held at Palazzo Borromeo with the participation of the actor and director Carlo Verdone and Gianluca della Maggiore (International Telematic University UniNettuno). The moderation of the meeting, broadcast live on TV and streaming on Telepace, was entrusted to the RAI journalist Chiara del Gaudio.
On this occasion, the Ambassador of Italy to the Holy See Pietro Sebastiani conferred the award of Commander of the Order of the Star of Italy to Monsignor Dario Edoardo Viganò, Vice Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.
In explaining the reasons for the award, Ambassador Sebastiani highlighted the absolute relevance of Msgr. Viganò’ s Curriculum Vitae, recalling the very important positions held in the Italian academic world, in universities and in international research institutes, numerous prizes and awards, the vast research activity and the vast amount of publications. The positions of the highest importance held in the Curia, together with the presence in prestigious areas of the academic and cultural life of Italy, make Msgr. Viganò a very precious link between Italian civil society and the pontifical and ecclesiastical areas in favoring the progress of culture and communication.
Lastly, Ambassador Sebastiani thanked Monsignor Viganò for the precious collaboration over the recent years with this Embassy in organizing several cultural initiatives of the highest level, especially on relations between the Holy See and Italian cinema.
