On 14th of September 2021, at Palazzo Borromeo, Mons. Francesco Soddu, Director of Caritas Italiana and Prof. Pasquale Tridico, president of INPS (National Institute for Social Security), talked about “Institutions and the fight against poverty“.
On that occasion, Ambassador Pietro Sebastiani conferred the honor of Commander of the Order of the Star of Italy on Mons. Soddu for his outstanding professional competence and dedication to the leadership of the Caritas Italiana since 2012 in multiple fields.
Explaining the reasons of the award, Ambassador Sebastiani highlighted the countless activities of Caritas Italiana to alleviate poverty and social exclusion, help populations affected by natural disasters, assist asylum seekers through the “humanitarian corridors” in agreement with the Italian government. He also recalled Mons. Soddu’s commitment for and with young people by means of hundreds of projects on the ground. At international and european level, Caritas Italiana, alongside Caritas Internationalis, has always been on the front line for the development of micro-projects and humanitarian activities to face international emergencies caused by wars or natural disasters.
