On May 31st, 2021, H.E. Mons. Paul Richard Gallagher and Professor Vincenzo Buonomo, Rector of the Pontifical Lateran University, talked about “Today’s challenges to religious freedom” at Palazzo Borromeo.
On that occasion the Ambassador of Italy to the Holy See Pietro Sebastiani conferred the honor of Commander of the Order of the Star of Italy to Professor Vincenzo Buonomo for the absolute relevance in the Roman academic scene and for his constant, intelligent support to the Italian positions within the Roman pole of the United Nations.
Explaining the motivation for the honor, Ambassador Sebastiani highlighted Professor Buonomo’ s prestigious academic profile and his solid experience gained at the Pontifical Lateran University, which lead him to the prestigious designation as Rector of the University in 2017. Moreover, his highly qualified experience in the Holy See’s Representation to the UN in Rome and his constant attention to the relationship with the Italian Embassy, the academic institutions and Italian civil society were highlighted.
