To commemorate Mario Agnes, appointed director of “L’Osservatore Romano” from 1984 to 2007 by Pope John Paul II, and to celebrate the 160 years since the foundation of the newspaper published by the Vatican City State, the Ambassador of Italy to the Holy See Pietro Sebastiani organized – in collaboration with the President of the Biagio Agnes Foundation, Simona Agnes – the presentation of the book “L’Osservatore. Thirty-five years of Church history in the private papers of Mario Agnes” by Ignazio Ingrao, Edizioni San Paolo.
The event took place in the cloister of Palazzo Borromeo on Tuesday 18th May 2021 from 11.30 a.m. Ambassador Pietro Sebastiani opened the presentation that was also attended by Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Vatican Secretary of State, Dr Gianni Letta and Professor Andrea Riccardi. The moderator was Mgr. Dario Edoardo Viganò, Vice Chancellor of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences and of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.
On that occasion, Andrea Monda, current director of the Holy See newspaper was awarded with the “Biagio Agnes” International Journalism Award.
