The Embassy of Italy to the Holy See informs that Sister Alessandra Smerilli has been awarded with the honor of Officer of the Order of the Star of Italy.
The conferral of the honor intends to recognize the absolute relevance of the academic profile of Sister Smerilli, full professor of Political Economy at the Pontifical Faculty of Education «Auxilium» and coordinator of the Economy Taskforce of the Vatican Commission for COVID-19 established by Pope Francis in March 2020, the intense teaching and research activity as well as the commitment to promoting greater ethical awareness in the economy and finance, particularly with regard to young people.
His professionalism and competence have found a prestigious recognition with his appointment as Councilor in the Pontifical Commission for Vatican City State and with the assignment of numerous other assignments in civil society and Italian institutions, areas in which it continues to offer a very important contribution to the development of the study of Italian civil economy.
