The new portal dedicated to the internationalization of the Italian higher education system, “Studio in Italia” (https://studyinitaly.esteri.it) has been available. The portal, available in English and Italian according to the most modern standards thanks to the precious collaboration of the DGAI, was created with the dual objective of creating a new platform for the management of the Italian government’s study program and for guiding and assisting the international student it is a period of study in Italy.
The platform is an integrated solution that provides access to all the information necessary for choosing the academic path. Compared to the previous online portal, the new platform is divided into several sections concerning the higher education system, university enrollment procedures and useful tips on daily life and early academic and bureaucratic obligations. Alongside these information sections, a search engine is available periodically with the entire offer of Italian university courses and AFAM institutions for a total of about 5,000 degree courses.
As part of the internationalization strategy launched last years, the portal was also created to meet the needs of the offices abroad in dealing with a growing stream of international students interested in studying in our country with the hope on one hand to simplify the activity of the offices in the numerous requests for information and on the other to provide a useful tool for a more effective strategy to promote the Italian higher education system. As regards the scholarship program, the portal will also guarantee a more effective and efficient management of document flows, simplifying and systematizing the forms in order to reduce processing time and reduce the incidence of human errors.
The portal is flanked naturally by the sites of the MIUR and www.studiare-in-italia.it/studentistranieri/ and www.universitaly.it in which the procedures for entry, stay and matriculation of international students to higher education courses at the Universities and Institutions of high artistic, musical and dance training (AFAM) and registration for admission tests related to the degree courses with programmed access.
In the coming months the portal will also be enriched by a section dedicated to videos and interviews made to international students enrolled in Italian universities and academies. All the multimedia material will be subtitled in English in order to allow a better use by a foreign audience. A version of the platform in Chinese is also under construction.
